Phone is broken but I want my data: is it possible?
The screen is shattered, the phone won't turn on, or it fell in water. The first question isn't usually "how much does the repair cost" but "can I get my photos back?". The answer, in most cases, is yes — but it depends on the type of damage.
If the phone still turns on If the device works but the screen is broken or unreadable, data recovery is almost always possible:
- Connect the phone to a PC via USB cable and transfer files and photos directly
- Turn on cloud backup — iCloud for iPhone, Google Drive for Android — and wait for it to finish
- On iPhone, you can do a full backup via iTunes or Finder by connecting it to the computer
In these cases, the data is safe and recovery is straightforward.
If the phone won't turn on This is more complex, but often still solvable. What matters isn't the device's outward condition, but the state of the internal memory where the data is physically stored.
Drop damage If the motherboard is intact and only other components are damaged, the data is almost always recoverable.
Liquid damage The flash memory where the data lives is often intact even when the rest of the device no longer works. A professional cleaning of the motherboard can bring the device back to life just long enough to extract the data.
Severe physical damage If the memory itself is physically damaged, recovery becomes much more difficult. We assess this case by case.

- The phone's unlock PIN — without it, the operating system blocks access to the data even if the device works
- Any details about where and how the damage happened
